Jforum #128

The Java Story

We are excited to kick off the Jforum meetup season with a relaxed afterwork and a screening of The Java Story, the new documentary about the language, the people and the community behind Java.

The film traces Java’s improbable journey: from nearly dying before it even launched, through its reinvention for the web and rise as the backbone of enterprise software, to the open-source battles, lawsuits and the remarkable renaissance from Java 8 onwards.

And the story is told by the people who were there.

The documentary brings together some of the biggest names in Java’s history and community, including James Gosling, Joshua Bloch, Brian Goetz, Rod Johnson, Gavin King, Venkat Subramaniam, Josh Long, Andrey Breslav and many more. Many of them appeared on Jfokus stage at the Waterfront more than once in the past 20 years..

We thought: what better way to watch it than together with the Java community?

So join us after work on Wednesday 2 September and let's watch The Java Story together.

After the screening, those who want to keep the evening going are welcome to join us for dinner nearby.

Please register here to secure your spot.
